Description
Soft, buttery Christmas thumbprint cookies filled with festive jam. An easy, colorful, and delicious holiday baking favorite for families and kids.
Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
2/3 cup granulated sugar
2 egg yolks
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup raspberry jam (or other jam of choice)
Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
1. In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
2. Add egg yolks and vanilla, then mix until combined.
3. Stir in flour and salt to form a soft dough.
4. Roll dough into tablespoon-sized balls and place on a lined baking sheet.
5. Gently press a thumbprint or spoon into the center of each ball.
6. Chill dough in the refrigerator for 20–30 minutes.
7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
8. Fill each indent with about 1/2 tsp of jam.
9. Bake for 12–14 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
10. Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes.
11. Transfer to a wire rack and cool completely.
12. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
Chill dough to keep cookies from spreading.
Use a variety of jams for visual appeal and flavor.
Store in airtight container for up to 5 days.
Freeze unbaked dough balls for quick future batches.
