Description
Soft Christmas Thumbprint Cookies are chewy, festive, and filled with sweet jam. Perfect for holiday gatherings and gifting.
Ingredients
1 large egg
1 cup margarine, softened
1 cup sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
2 tsp vanilla extract
Jam of your choice (strawberry, raspberry, apricot, etc.)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. Cream margarine and sugar until light and fluffy.
3. Add egg and vanilla extract, mix well.
4. Whisk together flour and baking powder in a separate bowl.
5. Gradually mix dry ingredients into the wet mixture until dough forms.
6. Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place on a lined baking sheet.
7. Press a thumb gently into the center of each ball.
8. Fill the indentation with ½ tsp of jam.
9. Bake for 10–12 minutes until edges are set.
10. Allow cookies to cool completely before serving.
Notes
Use room-temperature margarine for easy mixing.
Chill dough if it feels too soft.
Use thick jam to prevent spilling during baking.
Optional: Roll dough balls in sugar or colored sprinkles for festive decoration.
Store cookies in an airtight container to keep them soft.
