Description
Slow Cooker Mississippi Steak Bites are tender sirloin pieces seared for flavor, then slow cooked with ranch seasoning, au jus gravy mix, butter, onion, and pepperoncini for a rich, tangy, savory gravy. Serve them over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles for an easy comfort food dinner.
Ingredients
Steak bites
2 tbsp canola oil
3 lb top sirloin steak, cut into bite sized pieces
1/2 cup beef stock
1 small white onion, cut into chunks
1 packet au jus gravy mix
1 packet ranch seasoning mix
8 tbsp butter, cut into 8 slices
6 pepperoncini peppers
Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
1. Heat a large skillet over medium high heat and add oil.
2. Sear half the steak bites 2 to 3 minutes per side, then transfer to the slow cooker. Repeat with remaining steak.
3. Pour beef stock over the beef and add onion chunks.
4. Sprinkle au jus gravy mix over the beef, then sprinkle ranch seasoning.
5. Lay butter slices on top and add pepperoncini peppers.
6. Cover and cook on low 5 to 6 hours or on high 3 to 4 hours, until tender.
7. Taste and add salt and pepper if needed. Serve hot over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles.
Notes
Searing is optional but adds deeper flavor.
Use unsalted beef stock if you are sensitive to salt since seasoning packets can be salty.
Add a splash of pepperoncini juice for extra tang if desired.
Store leftovers with sauce for best moisture and reheat gently with a splash of stock.
