Description
Quick, flavorful, and easy one-pan meal combining savory chicken sausage, tender broccoli, and creamy orzo pasta, finished with melty Parmesan cheese.
Ingredients
Large drizzle of olive oil
8 ounces chicken sausage, cut into 1/4–1/2 inch slices
2–3 cups broccoli florets, roughly chopped
Kosher salt, to taste
Ground black pepper, to taste
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 cup orzo pasta
2 cups chicken broth
1 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
Instructions
1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, drizzle olive oil and add sliced chicken sausage. Cook 2–3 minutes on one side, then flip and cook another minute until browned.
2. Add broccoli and season with salt and pepper. Cook 5 minutes until broccoli is bright green and slightly tender.
3. Add minced garlic and orzo, stirring everything together for 1 minute.
4. Pour in chicken broth and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer 10–15 minutes until orzo is tender and liquid is mostly absorbed.
5. Stir in shredded Parmesan cheese until melted and creamy. Serve immediately, garnishing with extra Parmesan if desired.
Notes
Use high-quality chicken sausage for maximum flavor.
Do not overcook broccoli; it should be tender-crisp.
Freshly grated Parmesan melts better than pre-shredded.
Add fresh herbs like parsley or thyme for extra flavor.
