Description
This Apple Crumb Cake is buttery, moist, and filled with cinnamon-spiced apples, topped with a crunchy crumble and warm cinnamon apple drizzle.
Ingredients
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter
3/4 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup sour cream
2 medium apples, diced
1 tsp cinnamon
For the crumb topping:
3/4 cup flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/3 cup cold butter
For the drizzle:
1 small apple, diced
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp brown sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 tbsp water
1/4 cup powdered sugar (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8-inch pan with parchment paper.
2. Whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
3. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla.
4. Mix in sour cream and fold in dry ingredients and apples.
5. Spread batter in pan.
6. Combine crumb topping ingredients and sprinkle over batter.
7. Bake 40–45 minutes until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
8. For drizzle, cook apple, butter, sugar, cinnamon, and water until thickened. Stir in powdered sugar if desired.
9. Drizzle over cooled cake and serve.
Notes
Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 4 days.
Use tart apples for best flavor.
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or coffee.
