  • 1 packet ranch seasoning mix, or about 3 tbsp homemade​
  • 8 tbsp butter, cut into 8 slices​
  • 6 pepperoncini peppers​
  • Salt and pepper, to taste​

Instructions

Sear the steak

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium high heat and add the canola oil.​
  2. Add about half the steak in a single layer and sear 2 to 3 minutes per side, just to brown, not fully cook.
  3. Transfer seared steak to the slow cooker and repeat with remaining steak.​

Slow cook

  1. Pour beef stock over the steak and add the onion chunks.​
  2. Sprinkle the au jus gravy mix over the beef, then sprinkle the ranch seasoning.​
  3. Lay butter slices over the top and add pepperoncini peppers.​
  4. Cover and cook on low for 5 to 6 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours.​

Finish and serve

  1. Taste and add salt and pepper if needed.​
  2. Serve hot over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles, spooning the sauce over everything.​
